From lab to fab. And now: from PreFab to FFB Fab.
Only recently, we announced our collaboration with the Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB, highlighting how close integration between material development and manufacturing can accelerate the industrialization of next-generation battery technologies.
Last week, our CTO Kolja Beltrop, PhD and our Site Director Münster Guido Schmülling had the pleasure of attending the topping-out ceremony of the FFB Fab in Münster. A milestone not only for the Fraunhofer FFB team, but for the entire European battery ecosystem. The new facility will complement the already operational FFB PreFab and create a unique infrastructure that enables the journey from laboratory innovation to production at gigafactory scale under one roof.
For E-Lyte, this development is particularly exciting.
Our partnership with Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB is built on a shared ambition: accelerating the transfer of battery innovations into industrial reality. Through direct validation of advanced electrolyte formulations in production-relevant environments, we can shorten development cycles, improve scalability, and bring market-ready solutions to customers faster.
The FFB Fab represents exactly the kind of infrastructure Europe needs:
- Connecting research, pilot production, and industrial scale-up
- Strengthening technological sovereignty and competitiveness
- Enabling faster commercialization of next-generation battery technologies
Seeing the progress on site was a strong reminder that the European battery industry is not only discussing the future but actively building it.
Congratulations to the entire Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB, all project partners, and everyone involved in reaching this important milestone. We are proud to contribute to this journey and look forward to continuing our collaboration.
