Funded project InnoAktiv

The InnoAktiv project aims to significantly accelerate and improve cell activation in the production of large-format lithium-ion batteries through innovative materials, processes, and equipment. The current process time of around ten days is to be substantially reduced, thereby lowering costs, energy consumption, and emissions. At the same time, improved cell performance is targeted, including longer service life and lower internal resistance. The solutions will be tested in near-production environments and are intended to strengthen the competitiveness of European battery manufacturing.

The work plan comprises seven work packages: project and technology management, definition of requirements and data collection, process development and material analysis, development of new self-discharge tests, as well as scaling and demonstration in a research production line. This is followed by analysis and exploitation of the results. The work packages are interlinked and partly run in parallel.

The results include faster processes, reduced costs and energy demand, and improved cell quality. They will be exploited through scientific publications, patents, industrial integration, and the training of qualified personnel, thereby strengthening the German and European battery industry.

 

The project is funded under the B@TS funding initiative by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
